At Wiggles and Giggles we are proud to promote equality and diversity within the nursery and throughout our community.
We are based in Oldbury, on the Hagley Road, one of the main roads into the City of Birmingham. We are surrounded by many different cultures, religions and beliefs. Our children are richer because of this diversity.
Teaching children and allowing them to experience and understand other religions and cultures is important. We develop this understanding from an early age, allowing the children, from all cultures and religions, to share their experiences and talk about what is important to them and their families.
We also celebrate a variety of festivals which enables the children to feel valued, supported and respected, with this comes confident children and learners. It also allows the children to see that they all have differences, and that this is okay because everyone has parts of them that make them special and unique.
We regularly hold charitable events at the nursery. The children learn all about the cause and how our efforts are going to help. They also get to have a lot of fun, whether it’s making cakes, dressing up or doing an activity.
If you have any ideas or suggestions for a fundraiser or a charity which we can support, please contact us.
The children enjoy trips and running errands in our local community. From posting letters at the Post Office to a visit behind the scenes at our local supermarket, all of these experiences add to a child’s development. We also invite members of the community into the nursery to present to the children.
If you have an interesting job, a skill that you can demonstrate or are knowledgeable about a certain topic please get in touch, we’re sure that the children would love to hear about it!
As a nursery it is our responsibility to promote British values, we do this by teaching children about respect, sharing, tolerance and caring. These values are actively promoted through the EYFS area: personal, social and emotional development.
Government definition of British values:
- The rule of law
- Individual liberty and mutual respect
- Tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs
Through every day experiences children learn right from wrong, sharing with others and respecting other opinions. We provide a learning environment that helps teach children to value others and be confident in talking about their feelings. Providing children with these opportunities is crucial in a child’s development as it helps them understand about why decisions are made.
